Resort General Information

LOCATION: Paradise Village Resort & Spa is located 10 minutes north of Puerto Vallarta International Airport, situated on Banderas Bay on the west coast of Mexico. The Sierra Madre Mountains form a lovely backdrop for this picturesque village and resort set right on a secluded marina and private beach in Nuevo Vallarta. AIRLINES: Aeromexico, Alaska, American, Continental, America West, Mexicana, and Northwest all have scheduled flights from the United States to Puerto Vallarta. Puerto Vallarta is about 2 1/2 hours from Los Angeles, Dallas, Houston, and Phoenix; 3 hours from San Francisco; 4 hours from Chicago and 4 1/2 hours from Seattle. TRANSFERS FROM AIRPORT TO RESORT. Shuttle service to and from the airport is available through taxi and bus services located at the Airport. Sorry, we are not permited to pick up customers at the airport. IMMIGRATION: Individuals entering Mexico must have a tourist card, available free of charge through the airlines ticket desk. You must also carry proof of citizenship, such as passport, birth certificate, or photo identification. Your tourist card must also be returned on leaving Mexico. DUTY CUSTOMS: On entering Mexico all visitors must declare to Mexican customs officials any items intending to be left Mexico valued at over $300 dollars. Items of a personal nature pass through customs freely. TEMPORARY IMPORTATION PERMIT: A temporary permit is needed to bring audiovisual equipment, gifts, awards, stationery, etc. into Mexico To get this permit, you must provide your ground operator with a letter stating the date of your event, the purpose of bringing such items into Mexico and your intention to return the goods to their place of origin. The letter must be presented at least 45 days prior to your arrival date. WEATHER AND TEMPERATURE: The climate in the Puerto Vallarta Region is tropical. Temperatures range from 70 to 90 degrees F year round. WATER: Paradise Village has a water purification and softening system that filters and purifies all the water throughout the resort making our water and ice cubes safe. When making excursions outside the resort avoid ice cubes and drink bottled water soda and beer. LANGUAGE: The national language of Mexico is Spanish, but many people in the resort area speak English as well. CURRENCY: The Peso is the official currency of Mexico. Current exchange rates are favorable for travelers from the U.S., Canada, Europe and many other countries. Travelers checks and major credit cards are widely accepted, however personal checks are not accepted. The U.S. dollar is accepted in most shopping areas and given the current rate of exchange. FAXES, MAIL & TELEGRAMS: Post cards and letters sent to the U.S. and Canada take about two weeks to arrive. Mail can be posted from Paradise Village. Telegrams can also be sent from the post office. The resort also offers fax service and courier services through DHL, Fedex. LOCAL POINTS: Take time out to see the historical majesty that is Puerto Vallarta. A variety of chartered excursions are available through the Paradise Village concierge desk, including enchanting country side and city tours, a tropical jungle tour, a scenic cruise, whale watching and a romantic dinner cruise. SHOPPING: Shoppers will enjoy browsing through the boutiques and stores conveniently located right in Paradise Village. Shopping opportunities also abound in Puerto Vallarta. Upscale malls, outdoor markets and arcades sell everything from designer clothing to Mexican jewelry and handicrafts. Paradise Village offers public shuttle transportation to Puerto Vallarta departing several times per hour. NIGHTLIFE: After dark a glittering array of nightlife and dining awaits your pleasure -- in both Nuevo Vallarta and nearby Puerto Vallarta and at our Xcaret Night Club.
